Where ya goin?

Trains have always been my favourite means of transport. I used to travel on the Paris to Geneva or Lausanne services when I was a student. To come in on the boat train to Gare du Nord and then sit tight as a few carriages made their way through the back train alleys of the city to Gare de Lyon was like being in a black and white Harry Lime movie.

Then the romance of late night departures on the Orient Express!. (ok getting off at the first stop but so what!). I will always prefer trains. The London office is three minutes away by foot from Kings Cross. So no doubt the train will beat the plane anyday.

It may not be what it used to be!. We have to regret the passing, for example, of the GNER full breakfast. But still it is best.

Today off to a meeting at Windermere. Waverley station is in sunshine!. And are not stations always full of question and mystery?
