Protective Instinct

The mockingbirds (HERE) have built a nest in the escaliered pear trees (HERE) at the back of the veggie garden.

I heard from a taller person there are four speckled eggs in the nest, so I brought out a footstool today to climb up and snap a photo.

Mama Mockingbird was not amused!!!

She kept flying at me and hitting me on the head and back...HARD!

So I gave up on shooting the nest (for now) and captured this image of her instead.

I'll be back with protective gear and possibly an assistant...
