black-eyed susan this is not. that is what i thought originally, but quickly remembered those are yellow with dark brown-black centers. this is a purple coneflower or echinacea purpurea; loved by humming birds.

had a lovely steamy stroll this afternoon with B at the zoo. it is almost too hot to be outside and not be on a bicycle. need the breeze!
