A pity that this lot don't still fly Gnats, as they could then be punnishly referred to as the Parasite Regiment or something. Even though they're still the military I don't mind this lot too much, even though they still use up fuel and levy a charge to appear in front of people who have already paid for them. At least they're merely demonstrating manoeuvrability and skill rather than heaviness and deadliness of weapon and costliness of technology. The wingpiglet was initially taken out to the front garden to observe them but was then more interested in peering up at me peering out of the window. Once back inside and looking out of the window he was more interested in fiddling with all the things sitting on and immediately beneath the windowsill. I think I've probably seen this lot perform live several changes of pilot ago at an airshow but would have to check the troupe's performance dates against airshows at the airfield near where my parents live. Weird how even after seventeen years the sound of military aircraft steaming past not very far overhead sounds much more familiar than passenger aircraft wafting slowly past somewhat higher up, though still on their way down to land. The airfield near where my parents live was mostly inhabited (when I live there too) by Phantoms and Tornadoes, though occasionally pieces of the Battle of Britain memorial flight would putter overhead at a more relaxed pace but even lower altitude.
