Fire Alarm

Nothing gets the heart racing like a fire alarm. Even if it was a false one.

We've been in this apartment for 10 months and it's the first time I've heard it go off, which is a far cry from my student days when the alarm would quite often go off 3 times a night.

Emma has a bag with irreplaceable objects of sentimental value by the door, ready to grab in case of fire.  Diaries, hard drive with photos, that sort of thing. It was a good trial run to check the bag worked, which it did flawlessly.
