Oystercatcher

Went down to the estuary at Monaco (Mon-ah-co) in Nelson today on the way to a meeting - lunch at the Honest Lawyer, great meeting!

I was taking photos of a heron when this oystercatcher flew across in front of me. I've not blipped an oystercarcher before, my shots are usually too blurred, so the final blip decision was fairly easy. I was taken with the way the mud on the end of his beak shows out - thats what comes of digging it into the estuary looking for food.
