The Perfect Monday!
I dropped R, C, R & P off at The North Face Car Park at 7.15am so they could do their ascent of Ben Nevis. After a trip back to the cabin to have my breakfast, shower and get sorted I set off on the 130 mile round trip to go and 'bag' a castle that I have wanted to do since I saw a photo of it, Eilean Donan.
The scenery was just breath taking and I have to admit to having got out of the car at one point whilst admiring the view and shouted 'Scotland you are just awesome'! I know embarrassing not quite sure what made me do it, i just felt the need, but I stand by that Scotland you are awesome!
I wasn't disappointed with Eilean Donan! I had a very enjoyable couple of hours. It is very high up there as one of the best I have been to. I wish the weather had been better for photographs, a little blue sky would have been nice, but you can't have everything. I did have a bagpiper to make up for it and he did play Scotland the brave, one of my favourites.
I'd hoped to get to the Isle of Skye for lunch and a little view taking before heading back, just to say I had been to Skye and make my mum green with envy... alas by the time I had finished wandering around the castle and taking photos there wasn't time... so I had my lunch and a coffee at the castle and headed back once again appreciating and admiring the view... I could so have that view in front of me and in my wing mirrors every day!
All the walkers signed out were signed back in at Ben Nevis and after a celebratory pint of Nessies Monster Mash it was back to the cabins for showers, food and sleep. R and I managed to catch the sun going down over yesterdays (blip) view and around 10pm the 'hills' were bright red! absolutely stunning!
Today has most definitely been... The Perfect Monday! Happy Days!
