'Swing' Bridge

We crossed this bridge on part of our Millennium way walk last April when it was boiling hot (remember that!!)It was the section where we crossed the Aire valley, crossing the road, the river and finally the Leeds Livepool canal.
This is the photo I posted on that occasion.

I went back specifically today to meet the 2011 Challenge 'Swing'. I didn't walk this time but parked as near as I could and walked down the lane. If you look at the clouds in the background you can see why.

The bridges are on wheels just visible underneath and are pushed manually to let barges and boats through.

We had horrendous downpours this afternoon but the sun is shining again now.
