Stupid Seagull
This morning I was walking along Thornbury beach, enjoying the tropical climes I stopped for a while to admire the beach volleyball whilst sipping my pina colada cocktail.
The dolphins were swimming in the bay, but unfortunately I had the wrong lens on my camera. It is unusual to see them this early in the season, especially playing a game which looked a bit like basketball. It was a shame when the Narwhale popped the ball.
A little bit further along the beach, behind the pier where the flamingo's are normally to be found, I saw the funniest sight.
A seagull was balanced on the most precarious nest trying to keep her solitary egg warm. To prevent her wobbling off, she held a long twig horizontally in her beak. It warmed my heart to see such strong, nurturing, instincts.
I foolishly encroached to close and she took to the air and mugged a passerby, stealing their pasty.
I quickly blipped the nest and left, musing on the wonder and mystery of mother nature.
Tomorrow I will go walking in in the Thornbury mountains.
