Touring Kaghan Valley - Day 2
Visited Lake Saif-ul-Malook which indeed is one of the most beautiful lakes on this planet. There is a legend associated with this Lake about Prince Saif-ul-Malook who used to visit a fairy here and hence it is named after the prince.

It is 40 minutes Jeep drive from Naran and is very dangerous. There is no road as no road can be constructed in this area and if constructed, the 20 feet + snow in the winters will destroy the road. When we reached the lake, all the students and one faculty member started their hike towards the Ansoo Lake (tear lake as it is shaped like a tear).

The locals told us that approximately 5 out of 100 people are able to see this beautiful lake, the rest return unsuccessful). It took the students almost 6 hours to reach the lake and on their way back they were stranded at the base camp due to a heavy storm. Most of them came back at 2:00 am at night. While we were waiting for them, we were anxious and scared as we were getting different versions from different students who were coming back. Almost 26 students out of 30 were able to hike up to the lake through steep mountains and glaciers in their t-shirts with no food as they had to leave their accessories on the way, surviving only on pieces of snow.
We did not attempt the hike to Ansoo Lake and went back to the hotel in the afternoon, rested a while and shopped all evening. This picture although very beautiful does not do justice to the lake. It looks much more spectacular in reality.
P.S. Nobody knows the depth of Lake Saif-ul-Malook
