travel containment
It is good that there are plenty of things like travel cots available cheaply on eBay; better still that the original one Nicky picked out for me to bid on was rapidly bidded past a sensible price (especially considering the missing component) leaving this one, which was complete and cheaper, though one of the failings of this particular type appears to be that the flexible pole things protrude out to either side of the space occupied by the occupant, leaving less space either side for anything/one else and requiring that the bottoms of the things the flexible pole things rest on be mitigated in some way to stop them eating through the floor of the tent in which the travel cot is intended to be placed. After it was erected to test that everything worked it remained up to check that Edgar was fine being placed in it and potentially zipped into place, which he was, though he's even happier when trying to climb out of the top of it and generally doing the sort of thing which would prevent him from getting to sleep, were he to insist on trying to climb out of the top of it all night when we take him camping in it next month.
As Nicky was spending most of the afternoon restocking the freezer with portion-sized tubs of Edgar-food after depleting stocks over the past couple of weeks in order to be able to defrost the decreasingly efficient freezer this morning I was trying to occupy the wingpiglet for most of the day, taking him out in the afternoon for a nice spin in the rain to get a replacement padlock for that lost on Thursday. Despite having convinced myself that the one I'd lost had been a Master I remembered that it was a Yale when I glanced at the old key today, though not before wondering why there was no readily-visible direct equivalent visible online. The replacement is noticeably lighter but hopefully as sturdy as I didn't mind dragging 800g of padlock around for five years whe it resulted in a non-thoven bike. The weather-resistance seems a little more cursory so I'll keep an eye out for an exact replacement elsewhere.
