Powerboat Driving on Firth of Forth, Scotland

Very fast, very wet - from both waves and rain, in our eyes and in our ears, misty - great bumpy, laughing, squealing Leavers' Day Out with a journey to Inchcolm Island from Port Edgar in three powerboats, under the Forth Road and Rail Bridges, past Hound Point and the tug boats lit later on against the mist, lots of birds - mallard duck with babies and resting terns on the tyre breakwater, diving terns and diving gannets, flying cormorant (twice), flying puffins zooming past, seals resting on the rocks near the island, scrambling up the bottom end of the jetty, slimey with seaweed and mud and very slippy underfoot, a great welcome from Ian of Historic Scotland, packed lunch sheltering in the Chapter House, a brief history of the island before heading back, dreeping down the muddy seaweedy wall back into the side-by-side RIBs and clambering over sides and seats to get to get back into place, a row of orange clad bridge workers giving up for the day, rain getting worse and soaked to the skin - a good day out - one to remember...
