Go, Boys. Go!
Oh there are few better ways to a little boy's heart than trains and books! The boys lapped up the newly constructed railway (thank you Angela!) and before bed, Reuben read his heavenly new book "Go, Dog. Go!" (thank you Jennifer!) with speed and gusto and I marvelled at how perfect it is for him right now with his reading, mastering so many of the words on each of the pages, further motivating him to continue and say "I'm so proud of you!". He just loves to tell me what I need to tell him!
Every day I hear Reuben's speech leap forward. "How are you today?" he asks strangers, to be met often with smiling, laughing faces who have been brought momentary joy. So slow to warm up to new people but a year ago, my little boy has blossomed in confidence as he juggles his two languages with great dexterity.
PS: Did I tell you today's other news? Callum fell asleep whilst I was reading to them in the garden (actually Reuben was reading to us) and then Reuben's breathing started getting heavier too and bingo, off he was meeting Callum in the land of nod. My bedroom overlooks over the garden, so slipping them both in through the patio doors and into my bed, I nestled in beside them and then Mama joined them in the land of nod, all three of us snuggled up. Bliss. The last time that happened was here, one of my favourite images of my boys together.
