Fear & Loathing

the outside world....

i think i'm posting ths as proof to myself that i did make it out into the big bad world today. it was raining all morning but i still ventured out as i have been stuck in the house all week.
so i found myself over by buckingham palace. that was interesting. i was spoken to twice by two different police officers. the first time i quite clearly looked like a tourist with my camera bag over my shoulder and camera in hand but no mr mounted policeman still had to question me as to what i was doing and where i was going? twat! what business is it of yours?

so i wandered away from mr 20 questions and wandered in amongst the tourists to see if i could find anything blip worthy. nothing doing so i wandered off and tried to cross the 8foot wide piece of road in front of the palace. now the security barrier was in place in fact only oe entrance to the palace was open but i was not allowed to cross this road. in fact this copper was shouting at tourist left and right as they tried to cross this road which was in no way going to interfere with the changing of the guard. so we were trapped in the rain for an extra 15 minutes just to watch some soldiers on easy duty wander off to the barracks for a cuppa. i did press the copper as to why we couldn't cross the road until the soldiers were out of sight. i feel my questions were valid and after explaining to him why i felt that crossing the road did not in fact pose a security threat he informed that he did not in fact know why/how this rule/law(?) came into effect. i was not amused as he finished by saying well, it just is. i fear for the security of our citizens and visitors if this is the standard that is acceptable for the police these days. i know it's not all of them but more and more i am meeting (or being questioned by) coppers that couldn't walk and talk at the same time.

still it got me out and i even made a qucik stop at hamleys. got a few things for baby McD as we were on our own again tonight. not complaining as i love not having to share her with anyone else.
let me just say on the arts and crafts front that the "aqua beads" set is a real pain in the arse to place together. especially when you can't use the dropper pen and have "fat" hands as lexie pointed out. what she meant was small and chunky but as she is only three i'll let it slip..............THIS TIME!

well it is also the start of half term so fingers crossed i'll be back up in edinburgh in just over a weeks time...................
