Disappointing

I must admit I was a bit disappointed with Milo's photo shoot this evening. Yes, I know it's not ideal trying to take photos with a snake in one hand and the camera in another but I still feel the old lumix performed better in these situations.

Lights off, flash on - harsh lighting and hard shadows. Lights on, flash off - well I just felt these were poor, maybe I need to play with the settings but it they were grainy, slow to take, badly focused and just generally disappointing. If it can't cope with 6 halgone spots bouncing off white walls then how will it cope on a cloudy day, in general room lighting? Lights on, flash on - colours went very orange.

I know that both my monitors need calibrated. The laptop isn't bright enough and shows too much blue, the external monitor has poor contrast and too much yellow but I really don't think the problems I was experiencing are down to the monitor.

[EDIT] Just this once I may actually let the camera off on its mistakes, it appears it was still in macro mode. I would like to think that macro at a foot and a half away is the culprit.
