Association...

It's interesting the association people have with things... My Mother's friend brought her and another friend some lilies as a 'Thank You', however the other friend receiving the flowers did not want them because she thinks they are the flower of death! Even though she does think they are beautiful, she would not take them home. So my Mother ended up with a lovely big bunch of lilies :)

...And yet one of my old school friends wanted Lilies for her wedding... so it's funny how the same thing can have a completely different meaning to different people!
