Dedication
As anyone who saw yesterday's blip will know, there was a service of dedication at church today. Wee Rory's family and friends swelled our congregation, and it was a really lovely service. Our prayers will be with Rory and his family as he grows and develops. I do enjoy the sense of family and community which is evident in our church, and particularly at times like these. I blipped a picture of my church on Monday night, and one of the comments, from stravaig, was that there is so much more to churches than bricks and mortar, which is so true. Church is the body of Christ, or in everyday language, a family of people who love God and know his work in their lives. We are very different people from incredibly diverse backgrounds, yet drawn together by Christ's sacrifice for us.
Work with young people is a big priority in our church, and it's wonderful to see people like his mum, who has grown up in the church and has have gone through the various groups and ministries, and who I have known since she was in primary school living out her faith in her daily life, her family and friendships. I pray that the young people who are currently involved in the various clubs, classes and groups would also come to understand who Jesus is and how much God loves them.
