Off the beaten track

Somehow forgot to blip this:

Decided on the spur of the moment to spend the night in the mountains around Calitzdorp. A beautiful area which I love. The skies had opened and the rain poured down.

I made a booking at a retreat where they asked me what sort of car I had. When I said "Landcruiser" they said, OK, you should make the drifts but careful over the road as some of it has collapsed.

This first river almost did us in, it might not look that deep but it was well up the door and flowing strongly. I was too scared to think about it much but later had some nightmares about how the car could so easily have been swept away .. with me in it.
