Was determined to win a ticket for something at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on their website today and I got lucky, managed to get a ticket for the late screening of the movie Bombay Beach. A documentary about one of the commuities living on the edge of the Salton Sea in California, an area characterized by poverty, disregard and assorted social problems. Really liked the movie, some of it makes for pretty uneasy viewing but there's plenty of hope and optimism in there as well along with some real tenderness. Did I even mention the choreographed dances and the music by Zach Condon from the band Beirut? I didn't well, I did now.
