Lesson Learnt
Had a morning sat in the bean bag with the binoculars, a cup of coffee, and some prog rock this morning.
Watched a few funny encounters in the garden.
The first was two grey squirrels fighting over the peanut feeder. The one actually knocked the other off at one point, and it went crashing onto the patio. I half expected a stunned squirrel to sort out, but he was okay, and had pegged it back into the woods. Alas, I didn't have the camera at this point.
The second was watching the antics of the starlings in the garden. They are most definitely the delinquents of the garden. The continually fight with one and other, and the other birds.
I watched this amusing stand off for ten minutes, before the woodpigeon finally gave up, and flew off for some peace an quiet.
The starlings didn't have it their own way for very long, as a Greater Spotted Woodpecker turned up (alas - not with it's family again). The young starling had obviously not encountered one before, and stood it's ground ... he then found out what it was like to be on the wrong end of the "my beak is pointier than yours..." argument!
He then retreated to the water bath to lick his wounds and repair his pride.
I set the camera trap up whilst we were out this afternoon, and managed to capture a few decent shots, which are on my flickr site.
I caught this menacing beastie ...
As well as more woodpecker action, flapping woodpigeon, and a cheeky jackdaw.
