The Flying Scotsman
Finally got round to watching a movie I have been meaning to watch for a long time with my brother-in-law Julian, "The Flying Scotsman". The movie is based on the true story o the racing cyclist Graeme Obree.
Graeme Obree (born 11 September 1965,nicknamed "The Flying Scotsman") is a Scottish racing cyclist who twice broke the world hour record, in July 1993 and April 1994, and was the individual pursuit world champion in 1993 and 1995. He was known for his unusual riding positions and for the "Old Faithful" bicycle he built which included parts from a washing machine. He joined a professional team in France but was fired before his first race. He has suffered from clinical depression and twice attempted suicide. His life and exploits have been dramatised in the film The Flying Scotsman. Obree created some of the most radical innovations in the history of bicycle design.
It is a truely inspiring movie and one I recommend it to anyone remotely interested in cycling.
Shortly after watching the movie I went to shut the chickens up for the night. I always do a quick head count and tonight noticed one was missing. I had a quick look round outside and found one of our ladies had sadly passed away. I don't like putting things off, so had a quick burial in the rain. We now have just one hen so will have to decide how we go about given our lone chicken some company..... I think will we have to go back on the adoption register with the Battery Hen Welfare Trust.
