Over Scapa Flow

Incredibly busy day at work as our dental clinic was doing emergency cover this afternoon, after a morning during sedation for anxious and phobic patients. This involves a lot of input from the nurse, and much reassuring and hand holding - literal and metaphorical.

My neighbour was taken into hospital earlier in the week so I called in to see her after work then got petrol etc so was late home. Mr P was already home and had taken Ollie round the field so I was greeted by a very tired muddy dog! All the snow has melted and we're back to mud!

I was also a bit later than usual because I stopped and blipped the sun setting over Scapa Flow. Luckily there was not much traffic passing as I stood there, looking like a tourist, snapping away! In the summer the road is thick with stationary cars and folk wandering out into the road at every bend and blind summit! Oh joy - we've got all that to come! No, seriously, tourists are good - they are the main industry in Orkney now, having overtaken farming in the last few years - and I would heartilly recommend it for a holiday if you are interested in archeology, beaches, birds, wide open spaces, fresh air . . . . . but I warn you - I came on holiday 32 years ago and am still here!
