Pacific Ocean

Hubby and I headed away nice and early on a bright and sunny winters day for our few days of baching.

As soon as we got to the Hurunui River Mouth hubby knew I would want to see the sea before settling into our bach. I jumped out of the car and poured over the view, felt the fresh sea air blowing on my face and marvelled how the view had changed from just 5 days ago - I was ready to explore.

I photographed easily for two or more hours, full of eagerness for ever little bit of discovery I made. Meanwhile the river was changing as it met the incoming tide of the Pacific Ocean, the breeze got up and the calling of seagulls mingled with the calls of our native birds, it was time to put the camera away and settle into our bach.

A kiwi bach, weatherboard, one man kitchen, outside loo, roaring fire, no insulation but very comfy with its hotpotch furniture and all we needed for our few days.

A late afternoon shot of the cliffs facing north towards Kaikoura.
