Doing Things Differently

White Balance?

Looking like it has been plucked from the margins of the Humber Bank, where factories and refineries huddle together as if ashamed of being too industrial in such a rural county, Melton Ross Limestone Processing Plant stands, bright white and proud, in the middle of the bucolic Lincolnshire Wolds.

Originally owned by the family that also founded Aston Martin, the majority shareholder is now a trust, set up by the second Mrs Martin, for the benefit of the RSPCA, NSPCC and Barnados.

As a child it was one of the waymarks on the A18. To see it meant that we had left Grimsby behind and were going somewhere exciting and different. Although in stark, almost rude, contrast to the fields and copses, and pretty cottages straight out of "The Railway Children", it has always struck a chord with me.

Today I passed it twice, as I went to Grimsby to take my Dad for a check-up at the Docs. On the way home, I couldn't help myself and had to stop to blip this monster, sunning itself against a blue, blue sky.
