I went to Christchurch this morning to collect my daughter, FirehorseMia. Monday's quake made things a lot worse for her. See her blip yesterday

There have been many aftershocks, several of a force of 4 or more, and that's just today. Although I could not look about as I drove because of the low sun, deep shadows and heavy traffic, I could see by the state of the streets on the east side that a great deal more damage has been done. There are sudden humps, ruptures and sinkholes in the carriageways. I saw more liquefaction and flooding where groundwater has broken the surface.

Thank you all for the commiserations. They are much appreciated. However, I am far enough away to be not affected by the shakes.
