Might Thou be a BEE?

We have discovered what appears to be an underground nest and have noticed an influx of these insects. They don't appear eager to sting, they are just busy tending to the blooms in my garden.
An internet search suggests a ground bee, others have argued it's a honey bee (but they only live in a hive and I have seen these mating. If they are honey bees, the Queen is going to be disaapointed at the drone's infidelity.)...a neighbor suggested a wasp...
