Nauplion

Thank goodness for cruise ships!
We woke up just outside the port of Nauplion and what a beautiful little island this is! I wish I could show you more pics of the the bright red bougainvilleas that can be found all over the narrow winding streets.
The history of Nauplion goes back to the Byzantine Era, however the Venetians, Turks and Greeks battled for control over this island. The Venetians held the City for over 200 years and fortified the city, including Bourzi Island in the center of the bay.
