The loneliness of the sporting mascot

Went to watch a friend run in the Legacy Event 5K run. Also there was 'Wolfie', the mascot for the Warrington Wolves rugby team.

Before the race he was running around and having his picture taken with the kids. Once the race started Wolfie found himself surplus to requirements and he was in a much subdued mood, just wandering around.

There's something a little tragic about seeing a mascot during a quiet moment.
