Battleship Grey

Miserable weather here and heavy rain is forecast to continue all day... However, I did manage to make a brief foray down the road to the docks to snap this picture of RFA Fort Austin which is currently being refitted.

Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships like this are designed to carry supplies of fuel, munitions and food to other ships and the Fort Austin also has two flight decks and can store four Sea King helicopters in her hangar (who knew I was such an expert in this stuff?!). She's seen service in the Falklands (Malvinas..?) and Sierra Leone amongst other places but on a grey day she blends in rather unsettlingly on the Mersey. Am feeling kind of sombre now.
