Queuing for Betty's

I think the Vikings queued to get into Betty's tea room on St Helen's Square. It seems like such an entrenched habit amongst visitors to York that I can't imagine Erik Bloodaxe and his buddies didn't put down their battleaxes to wait in line for a Fat Rascal and a pot of Tea Room Blend.

Please don't get me wrong - Betty's is lovely. And on a nice day, it is a treat to sit in the St Helen's Square tea room with friends and watch the world go by. But come on, people, it's raining! If you get in before you've dissolved, you'll drip all over the carpet and all you'll see through the window is the tops of other people's umbrellas.

And besides, if only a Fat Rascal will do, Little Betty's is just a stone's throw away. Same Betty's menu, same experience and if you have to queue at all you'll be in the dry.
