Wild rabbit?

I see this rabbit in a morning on my way to work, there is a field across our road which is home to quite a few rabbits. This one always sticks out like a sore thumb. The unusual markings may be down to mingling with an escapee. This shot was taken hand held with a 300mm f/4.5 nikkor ais lens and if anyone has ever used this lens you will know that it is quite a task to focus quickly and accurately on small subjects like rabbits. I had to crawl through a load of bushes and sneak up on him/her the darker framing of the image is the out of focus bush that i was trying to shoot through.
