you never know what`s on your doorstep

Called to do a quick shop on the way home from work and decided to take a different although slightly longer route home.
I came past this memorial which is on the edge of a playing field now surrounded by houses. When this tragedy took place, there probably weren`t any houses at all.
What really struck me was the ages of the aircraftmen who perished....
