Moor and Sky

Today we completed the penultimate section of the Bradford Millennium way walk.
Well we nearly did as we got lost and actually came out further along the road than we should have done.

We crossed Ilkley Moor from the Wharfe Valley to the Aire Valley and in this photo we are walking towards the end of the walk on the moorland road between Guiseley and Keighley. In the middle distance is my area with Hewenden Viaduct which has featured on a number of past blips. In the distance are the Ogden Moor wind turbines which haver also featured.

At one point on the moor we had an almost 360 degree view with the white domes of the Menwith Hill Listening station, beyond Harrogate, on one side and the three power stations of Drax and Ferrybridge east of Leeds as well as the Emley Moor mast.

The reason I chose this view was I liked the different colours of the moor - dark, yet to bloom heather; the fresh green of new bracken and the white blooms of cotton grass. In contrast there are the softer colours of the valley beyond and the ever changing sky on a day of rather blustery and unpredictable weather.
