Wild in the country

The heavy mob

The heavy brigade moved on site today, along with some heavy looking stuff for the college extension. Our site manager found me, she in quite a state of excitement, to make sure I got some shots of the arrival of the girders, or could they be joists. The governor is making sure I keep a photographic record of developments - and I have to say they do seem rather slow. The musician said it was a bit like Wagner - you have to build it all up very slowly.

And the joke? The labourer was interviewed for a job on site. 'What's the difference between a joist and a girder?' 'Now, let me see - Joyce wrote Ulysses and Goethe wrote Faust'. Of course, it only works when spoken. (I prefer Elective Affinities.)
