No 79: Bittern

Definitely not my best photo of the day in terms of quality, but in terms of significance, the best by a mile. A lifer for me, and also an important sighting for RSPB Old Moor where I spotted it, as it is such a shy and elusive bird that it is seldom seen and they were not sure whether it was still around. My sighting made me into a bit of a celebrity for a short time - the warden came to talk to me and people in the cafe wanted to see the photo. One OM regular was so envious, he reckoned it was a plastic one!
I apologise to anyone who hasn't had a comment from me for a little while; I did try to catch up last night, but Blip kept refusing to reload after I got about half way through, so I'll be trying again later after supper and Springwatch.
