Chrysalis, Caterpillar A
Although I checked the caterpillar more than hourly all day yesterday, he chose to transform himself during the night when I was sound asleep, and he was fully changed by about six this morning. I was really hoping to catch him in the act, but I can always wait for Caterpillar B. His silk harness is clearly visible, and his back end is held down with a little dot of the same strong stuff. I love all the patterns on the body and the subtle colors.
You can see him spinning here, and earlier shots here and here.
For the techies out there, this time I set up the tripod and focused in Live View and used the self-timer. Works fine with an immobile subject, but I can't imagine trying to follow a moving insect with this setup.
