Mighty like a rose
MIGHTY LIKE A ROSE
Paul Robeson
Sweetest little fellow ev'rybody knows
Don't know what to call him but he's mighty like a rose
Lookin' at his mammy with eyes so shiny blue
Make you think that heav'n is comin' close to you
When he's there a-sleepin in his little place
Think I see angels looking through the lace
When the dark is fallin', when the shadows creep
Then they comes on tiptoe to kiss him in his sleep
Sweetest little fellow ev'rybody knows
Don't know what to call him but he's mighty like a rose
Lookin' at his mammy with eyes so shiny blue
Make you think that heav'n is comin' close to you
When the dark is fallin', when the shadows creep
Then they comes on tiptoe to kiss him in his sleep
Sweetest little fellow ev'rybody knows
Don't know what to call him but he's mighty like a rose
Lookin' at his mammy with eyes so shiny blue
Make you think that heav'n is comin' close to you
Just after I gave up work a few weeks ago, I spent a lovely day visiting C, an old school friend. We didn't see each other for about 35 years and then met up again at a school reunion and have got together now and again ever since. On this visit, she gave me this beautiful little patio rose called 'Flower Power'. It wasn't in flower at the time and I watched the buds form in great anticipation. Now it is in full flow and covered with these diminutive peach flowers. We spent many of our formative years together, had some great times and this will always remind me of C.
