St Nicholas' Chapel, St Ives

This small stone chapel on the island is dedicated to the fishermen of St Ives. It's not known exactly when it was originally built, but there are records of its repair dating from the 15th Century. In the 18th Century the chapel was used by revenue officers as a lookout for smugglers and in the early 20th Century it was used as a store by the War Office. In 1904 the government tried to demolish it but this met with angry local opposition and in 1911 it was restored.

Its probably towns most iconic landmark now and I bet no one leaves St Ives without at least one picture of it.
