Forgotten Memorial

Went for a lunchtime walk to Rosebank Cemetery. I wanted to see if I could find something I'd heard about ages ago: the memorial to the 1915 Gretna rail disaster.

Although it was the UK's worst-ever rail crash, killing 227 people, it was kept quiet at the time, because it involved a troop train during wartime.

The sign on the gate isn't much help, as it just describes the memorial as a Celtic cross (in a cemetery that's full of Celtic crosses). I eventually found it off the main path, towards the back wall. What surprised me was the size of the memorial - the lists of names bringing home the scale of the crash.
