Approaching the Aphelion

We get robbed up in these northern climes. When the earth is closest to the sun, we're pointed away from it in what the weather people call Winter (and what we call 'the year').

The best we get it to be pointed towards the sun when the earth is the furthest from the sun. For the record, we are furthest from the sun on July 4th this year.

So, right now, we're not anywhere near as close as we can get, but when we are you'd hardly notice.

With apologies, I've been researching apsides of late, for a long story...

This is my entry for this weekend's WBC challenge theme of 'CLOSER'.
