Conquering a demon

I'm really scared of heights and every time this bridge has been on TV I've always thought that crossing it would be terrifying. Anyhow, this is the view looking back at the bridge having crossed it - very slowly and unsteadily. I was ok for the first 2 foot but then it started to shake and move in the wind. If I could have turned round and gone back I would have, but the wooden walkway seemed to be a lot narrower than me so turning round looked impossible and bound to result in an early bath. So, every footstep was carefully and slowly taken and every movement of the hand along the rope was done with great precision. Still felt like I was going to miss my step and fall or miss the rope with my hands. Not easy watching every step and every hand movement whilst trying not to look down. Probably the slowest crossing of the bridge in it's history but I made it.

Unfortunately the only way back was across the bridge. Not quite as bad as the outward journey but not much better. Never again.
