Bagpipes On The Move

This isn't Scotland. This is Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the beginning of the annual 3-day Festival of the Arts. Led by the Grand Rapids Pipe Band, the opening parade was short but festive. More tomorrow.

Grand Rapids had a bit of a row with Newsweek recently when they named Grand Rapids in a top ten list of dying cities. The video that you can view below is one Grand Rapids response, and it's now receiving national and international attention.

Some familiar Grand Rapids faces are featured, the mayor, a philanthropist, a weatherman, and other local celebs, and the crowds are people who showed up to be part of it. (I couldn't make it downtown when they were taping so you will not see me :)

It's about nine minutes long and was done in one continuous take with no editing (the sixth time was the charm). So enjoy this little piece of Grand Rapids!
