Halloween Pennant

The Halloween Pennant has been described as looking very similar to a butterfly. Its wings are orange-yellow in color, though its markings are dark brown, not black as is commonly believed; the entirely orange-yellow wings with dark brown bands are what has given it its Halloween common name[1] and its typical position of being perched at the tip of a weed stalk, waving in the breeze like a pennant. In the northern part of Florida, they are in season from mid-June to mid-August, and are very common around lakes and ponds. I had no idea what it was called, until someone on blip told me, the last time I posted a picture of one. Nice larger.

I was actually looking for turkeys; I saw a couple in the long grass, took ,y eye off them for a minute, and they had vanished. I was shooting dragonflies, when I saw about five turkeys moving away from me, towards the road. Once again, I took my eye off them, and they were gone. They did not reach the road, so they were still in the long grass, hiding; They hide very well, and in the end, I gave up the chase.
