This used to be McColl's newsagents at 27 Broughton Street, but the shop seems to have closed.

The signage has been taken down, but in doing so it's revealed the previous occupants' details, which have been well preserved underneath (ok, it's hardly going to have Time Team excited, but it's a wee blast from the past!)

A Tesco Express opened round the corner from here recently - not sure if this had anything to do with it - maybe it's just a change in McColl's business plan...

In any case Broughton Street has a range of smaller, quality shops - certainly beats the larger retailers hands down anytime! This vacant unit will perhaps be an opportunity for a new member to join the select few 'independent elite'.
