"Cargill Castle"
Cargill Castle is a significant heritage landmark high on the cliffs at St Clair.
The 21 roomed castle was built in 1877,designed by noted Dunedin architect F.W.Petre.It was one of the first concrete buildings in New Zealand.
The mansion was the mayrol residence for Edward Cargill son of Dunedin`s founding father CaptainWilliam Cargill.
Unfortunately the castle has lain in ruins for the past 50 years but there has been a Trust set up with a long term development plan as a Tourist attraction.
