Dormice - what dormice?
A quick walk through the wooded part of the commons this afternoon. Surveys last year established that there is a relatively large breeding population of dormice here. On the face of it that's good news but it also means we are very restricted in the conservation work we can carry out that might favour other species. The wood canopy is now fully closed so its quite dark but there is an abundance of honeysuckle which domice use for nesting as well as food.
