The usual method of trying new feetwears around the house first to check that they really fit without exposing them to the wear and tear of the outside can't be fully realised when a glued-on portion of the sole has to be pried off with a screwdriver prior to proper testing for the feetwears' main usage. At least the proof-of-concept eBay pair established the usability of the system and a trundle round the shop indicated strongly that this pair was a lot more snug than the eBay pair, which had the rare distinction of being slightly baggy. Fortunately everything worked and everything is comfortable, albeit with some nonstandard lacing; the eBay-trial 46 Velcro-only pair were slightly overlarge but the new 45 lace-up pair have much more internal padding, requiring that the lacing over the broadest part of the feet is much looser than higher up the instep. The POC version's three-Velcro-strap method of attachment combined with their excess length and the variation in my feet's circumference along their length meant that they worked, but only if tightened beyond what they appeared to be designed to achieve. The new pair have significantly grippier soles and sufficient protruberances around the cleat area to stop them scraping hard (flat) surfaces when walking.
