Female Blackbird

We went round my parents' house today. I always try to remember to take my camera with me when we pop round their place - Mum has put lots of bird feeders in the garden so the chances of getting a good bird photo are much higher than they are in our garden - we have a cat, a BIG bird deterent!

Most of the birds were a bit skittish, but I found that standing outside the back door and staying very still, eventually paid off.

This female blackbird was flitting back and forth with big mouthfuls of bread. My Mum assures me that she wasn't being greedy and does have babies to feed! In this photo she is preparing to swoop down for her third 'takeout'!
