The Wandering Minstrel

A bit of history

It seems that during my sojourn to the Far East, quite a lot has been going on at home. The most significant concerning my grandfather, who into his nineties has decided the time has come to move into sheltered accomodation. When I left the country three weeks ago, he had found a flat in Malvern, but nothing was sorted. This morning I was updated and find that he has already completed the purchase include a part-exchange on the cottage, and is living in his old home under license. The cottage, which holds so many memories for the whole family, is no longer his.

As a result, the rest of the family has had a hectic few weeks getting everything in order. This has included going through the whole house to decide what goes to family, what moves to the new flat, and what goes in the skip. My parents' house currently has a large stock of alcohol, including some bottles which are in excess of 30 years old. As a gin drinker, I have been given one of the 30-year old Gordons bottles to sample. I just hope it tastes as good as the bottle looks. I will certainly drink it in memory of the old days.
