Curve

This is one of my favorite RR curves on the West Shore RR.
The west shore was built to compete with the New York Central and ran up the west bank of the Hudson River to Albany Then across the state to Buffalo. The line down the Hudson is still busy as one of the two main freight routes into the NYC area [The other is the ex-Reading-Lehigh Valley, a far cry from the 1960's when 6 main lines served The NYC area]. The only thru segment upstate is this line, a bypass of the Rochester area. The RR business in the US has changed from a service oriented to a high volume commodities transporter.
